Smoother on every device
- The first time you play, the game measures about 10 seconds of real play. If it runs below 45 FPS it steps down one graphics preset (two below 28), and tells you. It never runs again, and it skips players who chose their own settings or a frame cap.
- High renders at up to 3200×1800, so it stays sharp on 4K screens. Ultra keeps native resolution.
- Frames are about 15% faster at High, and the game uses less graphics memory.
- The ocean isn’t drawn when hills hide all of it.
- Fewer hitches the first time vehicles, animals and kits come into view.
- If your graphics driver resets, the game saves and reloads straight back into the same world.
- Browsers without WebGPU draw the world much more efficiently.
- Game servers use about a third less CPU and wake up faster, leaving more headroom on busy worlds.
New setting: Settings › Keybinds & comfort › Raw mouse input. It’s off by default on Mac, so looking around keeps macOS pointer acceleration, and on everywhere else.
Wildlife and hands
- Deer, boar, wolves and polar bears were rebuilt with new bodies, eyes and coats.
- Eating, drinking, throwing, placing and fishing have proper first-person animations, and other players can see them too.
- Other survivors’ walking and running now match how fast they’re moving, with their feet planted instead of sliding.
- Tools and loose items sit more naturally in your hands.
Snow and desert air
- The arctic always holds a cold blue-white haze, so you can’t see all the way across it. It thickens a little at night and dawn.
- The desert has a lighter, warm dust haze. Storm fog stacks on top of both.
- Footprints and tyre tracks in snow and sand were removed.
- New snow footsteps, plus new grass and rock steps, wood chopping, and jackhammer and chainsaw sounds.

New items
- Barbeque: 100 wood and 40 metal fragments. Cooks six pieces of food every 3 seconds, three times a campfire.
- Flashlight: 30 metal fragments at Workbench 1. Press F to switch it on or off.
- Lantern: 25 metal fragments and 15 low grade fuel. It burns one low grade fuel a minute.
- Supply Signal: found in military, armory and elite crates. Throw it and violet smoke calls in a supply drop.
