Every server has been wiped
All seven official servers, Playground included, were wiped with this update, because the new huge monuments reshape every island. Bases, loot, inventories and research reset. Your account, skins, Sparks and purchases are untouched.
- The regular Thursday wipes carry on as before.
Four huge monuments
Four new sites are bigger, better guarded and harder to get to than anything before. Each has its own chain of card rooms. Every full-size island has Skua Roost, and most have some or all of the other three.
- Skua Roost is a walled heliport. Get in through the gate, a breach in the wall or a torn fence, then work from the green barracks to the blue hangar office and the red tower cab 16 m up, where a locked crate waits to be hacked. Heavy scientists, marksmen, a guard dog and a second Warden on the ring road defend it.
- The Skua gunship lives at Skua Roost now. It lifts off from its pad, lands back on it, and sits parked there between flights.
- Cloudbreak Relay sits on the highest summit you can walk up, with no road to it. Marksmen watch from nests on its edges. Its card rooms are a blue battery hut and the red relay hall.
- Caldera Works is a sulfur plant on the volcano's crater floor, reached on foot over the rim. Fumes give the whole site moderate radiation, and the red sulfur store behind the blue control house is strongly radioactive.
- Saltgrave Bastion is a sea fort offshore. Reach it by boat or by swimming: up the jetty stair, through a sea cave with a quay, or up ladders that start below the waterline. Its blue keep leads to a red magazine in the rock.
The Warden
The Warden is an armoured six-wheeled scientist vehicle that patrols the range at Redrock Proving Ground in the desert.
- It fights back with machine-gun bursts and a main-gun shell you can hear coming.
- Bullets barely scratch it. Bring explosives.
- When it's destroyed it burns, then leaves three crates of loot. It returns 40 minutes later.
- The Outpost has a new contract: Stop the Warden.

Every monument redone
- About 150 barrels and fuel drums you can break now stand on monument slabs, decks, roofs and catwalks, the oil rig's lower decks included.
- Ladders climb cranes, tanks, masts, roofs and container stacks up to the loot.
- Every site has more structure and cover, and sits in its ground: open ground shows the island's own sand, earth, snow or ash, with paving only round buildings and machinery.
- Monuments sound alive: humming transformers, generators, radio static, failing tubes, steam, wind in the towers and creaking metal. Indoor lights flicker.
- Rust gathers low down and runs in streaks.
- The Satellite Dish's control building is now a green card room.
Island life
- Storm Mast: a lightning rod that catches thunderstorm bolts and charges your batteries. Its tip glows before a strike, and a strike hurts anyone within 4 m. Research it after the Wind Turbine and craft it at a Workbench 2.
- Vent Smelter: it sits on one of the steam vents on the volcano's flanks and smelts ore with no fuel or charcoal. Research it after the Large Furnace and craft it at a Workbench 2. Standing by any vent warms you.
- Shoulder parrots: crouch and offer a wild parrot three seeds to tame it. It rides on your shoulder, squawks when a stranger comes into view and copies sounds it hears, from gunshots to code locks. Press P to send it home to a Parrot perch and to call it back. Wild parrots flit between the trees.
- Macaque troops shriek and scatter up the trees when you come close, and steal food you stand holding. A hit scares them off without hurting them.
- Robber crabs: at night, coconut crabs drag loose loot nobody has touched into a Crab burrow near their home, one stack a trip. Hit one and it lets go.
- Horses have a new, more realistic model with four coats.

Wildlife and gathering
- Far fewer deer, and deer and boar now come alone or in pairs. More cassowaries, jungle fowl and desert monitors fill the gap.
- Each animal gives a full carcass, closer to Rust's yields: wolves give much more leather, and most animals give more cloth.
- Harvesting a carcass now shows what you got in the pickup feed at the bottom right.
- Fallen logs in the woods can be chopped for wood: 300 from a log, 250 from a small one. They split apart where they lie.
- Wood and stone piles lie flat on slopes instead of half-buried, and logs, stumps and crates sound and spark like wood when you hit them.
Power tools and ore
- The chainsaw pull-starts every time you draw it: a pull or two, then it catches and idles. Hold the trigger to rev up and cut, let go to idle, and put it away to shut it off. A saw without fuel coughs and won't catch.
- The jackhammer plays one steady drilling sound while you hold the trigger.
- Ore rocks hit louder, crack each time they break down a size, and keep their old final break.
Fixes and performance
- The game uses less graphics and page memory with no change on screen. This helps Macs that crashed when graphics memory ran out.
- If your browser turns off 3D after a graphics crash, the game now tells you how to get it back.
- The ping in the server list now matches your ping in game. It used to read about 40 ms too high on US West.
- Black, patchy animals are fixed. Your browser was keeping old animal textures.
- Guns and arrows now show hit markers on horses.
