Play Outscrap as an app
There’s now a desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 and for Mac (Apple silicon and Intel). It’s the same free game, servers and account as in the browser, in its own window, and it updates along with the website. Get it at outscrap.com/download.
- Ctrl+W, Ctrl+R and F5 go to the game. They can’t close or reload it in the middle of a fight.
- It runs on your faster graphics card and isn’t capped at your screen’s refresh rate. The in-game frame limit adds 120, 144 and 240 FPS in the app.
- It shows what you’re playing in your Discord status and opens Outscrap server links.
- It keeps itself up to date. On Windows the update installs when you quit; on Mac it offers the new download.
- You sign in through your normal browser, then land back in the app already signed in.
- Leaving a match asks Leave or Stay first.
Progress that follows your account
When you’re signed in, your solo and training islands now sync to your account, like your survivors on servers already did. Play on a laptop, pick up on your desktop. Your settings sync too, except things that belong to one device: graphics, frame limit, audio devices and mouse acceleration.
- The newest copy of an island wins, and the copy it replaced is kept as a backup.
- An island you’re playing is never swapped out under you.
- The Transfer saves button is gone, since signing in does the job. Guests still keep their islands in their own browser.
New hands
- Your hands have fingers that grip what you hold: open palms for boxes and loose items, fists around handles.
- The rock is cradled in both hands and smashed down the middle. Axes and pickaxes chop on the edge, and blades slash and stab.
- The building plan is held in both hands like a page.
- Forearms drop out of view at wide angles instead of lying across the screen, and hands no longer flash when you switch items.
- Field of view now goes up to 90, like Rust. A saved 100 loads as 90.

Tested before it reaches you
Updates now go to a separate test copy of the game first. We check them there, and your servers only update when we release them, still with the in-game countdown and automatic rejoin.
